There is no such thing as a perfect marriage. No matter how it seems that it looks like you will never get into argument or any sort of fight , there will come a time that you will find yourself bickering with your spouse. And there are unfortunate situations where it comes to a point that one will decide that they have had enough of the relationship. And this can lead to one of the most painful decision that a married couple has to go through, the decision to divorce. It is indeed one of most painful things that a married man or woman can experience in his or her life. And the consequences of such actions is not to be taken lightly. Here are some of the negative effects of divorce on men and women who underwent the proceeding:

After divorcing, studies show that the life expectancy of both men and women have significantly decreased as compared to a married couple.

A researcher once concluded that when it comes to health, a non-smoker who underwent a divorce is only slightly healthier than a married individual who smokes one pack a day.

Cancer patients who are married have a higher chance of recovering and surviving from the disease as compared to a divorced cancer patient. This is a clear proof that the emotional trauma cause by a divorce have a long term effect on the physical health of a person.

After getting a divorce, it has been recorded that both men and women have underwent a decrease in their mental health. And researchers have found out that women are more affected than men. Depression, hostile behavior, self-acceptance and positive relations with others are just some of the cues that a person is affected by the divorce.

So what is the best course of action to take when it comes to divorcing? The best way to deal with the possibility of a divorce is to prevent it. And this is all about dealing with the problems as they occur. One main reason that divorce happens in a marriage is because of all the feelings and emotions that are bottled inside. This results to a scenario where one says something that they can never take back .

One of the most important element to keep a healthy marriage is communication. It is as simple as that. Always see to it that you talk to your spouse on a daily basis. One of the biggest reason why couples decides to divorce is because of lack of communication. Communicating on a daily basis can help strengthen your bond as a couple, even if you simply talk about the most trivial things like how your day went.

There are many ways that you can utilize in order to prevent a divorce or even the thought of considering it. If you are serious about fixing things between you and your spouse, you can go to a marriage counselor to sort things out. It is always not too late as long as you have the motivation and will to save the marriage.
